Birthday Wishlist

My birthday is less than two weeks away and I've only just made my wishlist. It may sound sort of spoiled for an almost 21 year old to still be making wishlists, but quite of few of my relatives live far away and don't get to spend time with me, and we all know presents are an easy cure for neglect. Just kidding.

Besides, sometimes it's nice to have all your goals in one place. I just love making lists, sets, and I love organizing.

I Disconnect From You

I've had a busy couple of months, what with moving and a new job, I've had little time to spend with my loved ones. I hate to admit this but I hadn't seen Carmelle in a month. She's been working two jobs and just started school again so it's been hard to find time to spend together. We've both been feeling very alone lately and have been fighting because of it. We knew come September, we wouldn't be seeing each other very much, but we had no idea how hard we'd take it.

On Friday we finally were able to actually meet up and spend the day together. I was late (as usual), and it started raining as we met up so we decided to get some lunch at Sorry Babushka's. Its an alright breakfast place, I was highly peeved that they ran out of hollandaise sauce, I really wanted eggs benny. Instead I got a Montreal smoked meat sandwich, it was nothing to write home about.

Carmelle's happy veggie burger

After lunch we walked around Commercial Drive, checked out the book store where Carmelle bought me one of my birthday presents (the third in C. S. Lewis' sci-fi trilogy), which she's wrapping up and not letting me read until my birthday. I picked out it out, I'm annoyed!

We decided to head over to Prado Cafe, since it was raining and we hadn't made any real plans for the day. I got a mocha with beautiful latte art on the top and Carmelle just got a black drip coffee.

I'm not sure why I look like such a weird baby in this picture, why do I do that face? Carmelle was telling me that her brother has a similar pin to my 'V'one, apparently there are victory pins that look like that that were made for WWii veterans. My mom gave me mine for my 8th birthday, it's probably the one piece of my own jewellery that I've kept for that long (almost 13 years!!).

Would You Love Me If I Was Dead?

Today (yesterday, thanks auto-post) I was feeling pretty down, I spent most of the day crying and feeling horrible and wishing to avoid everything on the internet. It wasn't a good day to not be working. So my mom decided after she got off work that she'd take me out to dinner at The Boathouse, a seaside restaurant that mainly serves shellfish. It was delicious and definitely lifted my spirits.

The butter for our bread was green! I think it had pesto in it.

I had the best crab soup ever, it came out in a something similar to a gravy dish, and they actually poured it into our bowls that had crab meat and sourdough in it. Spectacular!

I spent most of the day in my pajamas, but 15 minutes before my mom got home I quickly put some clothes on and did my make-up, I knew it would help me feel better.

Strange 9 to 9

I finally got my camera back yesterday from Paige! She came over to my new house last night, we went for a swim in the pool, watched Sex and the City, ate some birthday cake and shortly after fell asleep. This morning we woke up nice and early to go down to the states.

After moving I realized how much unnecessary clothing I have and decided to get rid of it. Instead of just giving it away to Value Village or something like that I decided this time I'd try and sell some of it first. So I packed up two industrial drum sized garbage bags, threw 'em in the car, and headed down to Buffalo Exchange in Bellingham.

In my opinion the girl doing the buying didn't have very good taste, I hand picked everything from my closet, knowing it'd sell well at a store like hers, but she'd never even bought a vintage dress before. I had three vintage 1960's dresses that she rejected, what the fuck. I ended up making about $60 from what she did end up buying. I found a mustard Lacoste polo there and that's about it.

So my oma, Paige, and I headed over to Forever 21 and I bought a bunch of cute socks and tights instead, plus a couple skirts, a sweater, and a pair of earrings. Also at Costco we found Nausicaa (my favourite Hayao Miyazaki film) for me, and The Lorax for my sister.

Every time I go to the states I have to go to Jack in the Box, it's seriously the best!! Mostly because we don't have it in Canada. It was funny trying to watch my oma eat a burger there, she kept complaining about how big it was.

Also how freaking funny is it that Costco sells Kirkland brand alcohol? A 40 of vodka is only $25 or something?! I love America.

So Long Springfield

Summer is over, well not really. It's the day after Labour Day and that will forever mean to me the first day of Fall. Even though I'm not in school any more and the year really does start in January, September will always make me think of new beginnings, and a chance to start everything anew.

I've made a few changes over the summer, I've dyed my hair black (eek!), I've gained 4 tattoos, I've fallen in love, I've started new jobs, and I'm currently in the midst of moving to a new house.

There are something things that I don't like about growing older and changing, like paying $151 for a monthly bus pass instead of $46, but then I think about how great it is to not be in high school and that makes the fee seem not as bad.

I've left the colourful hair club and I feel okay with it. I bought the black dye about 6 months ago to quiet my mom down about the fact that I couldn't find a job because of my hair. I had been so apprehensive about dying my hair such a dark colour because it took so much bleaching and frying of my hair to get it those bright colours that once I dyed it a dark colour my hair would be in too rough of shape for me to go back to them for at least 6 months.

With my new hair I'm slowly adopting a new style while still retaining my current wardrobe, it's no easy feat! Here's a polyvore for fall.

I'm looking forward to all the new and exciting things Fall will bring this year, my birthday being one of them. I try not to plan too much because I know life is never as it is supposed to be, it is best to just go with the flow.
